Sierra Leone's Minister of Internal Affairs emphasises the significance of bilateral security cooperation in enhancing global security.

Korovy Val, Moscow – 29 May 2025: Sierra Leone’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor Esq. delivered a rousing speech at the XIII International Meeting of High-Ranking Representatives in Charge of Security Matters, held in Moscow from May 27 to 29, 2025.
The annual gathering brings together global security leaders to discuss collaborative approaches to peace and security in an increasingly unpredictable world.
In his statement, the Honourable Minister conveyed salutations and gratitude from H.E President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone to His Excellency President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Government, and the citizens of the Russian Federation for their hospitality and continued support.
Touching on the theme of the summit, Minister Lengor emphasized the importance of multilateral dialogue in addressing global security threats.
*“In the context of today’s complex global security landscape, gatherings like this are critical. In our African tradition, we say ‘we hang heads’, which means we come together to think, share, and craft sustainable solutions for global peace,”* he stated.
He commended the Russian Federation for facilitating the annual summit, which he described as a *“laudable initiative”* that fosters collaboration and friendship among security stakeholders worldwide.
Minister Lengor called for collective engagement in achieving international peace and stability, underscoring the importance of inclusivity in global security efforts.
“No one country can make the world a safer place alone. Even the smallest nations play a vital role in ensuring global peace,” he said, urging continued unity, especially among countries of the Global South and East.

The summit concludes on May 29 with high-level discussions expected to focus on transnational threats, cybersecurity, terrorism, and regional cooperation frameworks.
On the sidelines of the conference, Honourable Minister Lengor held very fruitful consultative meetings with his Guinean , Gambian, Somalian counterparts. With Guinea the minister and his colleagues discussed Yenga and trans boarder crime. With Gambia, they discussed issues of Sierra Leoneans involved in criminal activities in the Gambia in specific reference to Kush. With Somalia the minister discussed human trafficking. The Minister also held meeting with a global cybersecurity organization.
